About the course
The course describes the modern role of the operations geologists. It will include duties and responsibilities with respect to well planning, subsurface hazard identification and mitigation, contractor selection and management, HSE, data acquisition planning. During the well execution phase, monitoring of coring, wireline logging, geosteering, and pore pressure evaluation. Post well duties including end of well reporting, data distribution and archiving.
You will learn
- Provide foundation in all aspects of operations geology in well planning, execution, and finalization
- Plan and prepare for a drilling location and for geological services
- Identify drilling operations and geological drilling hazards
- Understand and apply logging services and well testing services
- Evaluate drilling reports
- Describe drilling cuttings and cores
- Evaluate the impact on field development plan
- Prepare and compile operations reports.
